Slack + DataHub
Ask about your data directly from Slack. Get answers, subscribe to data assets, and manage incidents without opening another tab.
What is DataHub?
DataHub is the leading enterprise context platform, trusted by Global 2000 companies to make AI agents accurate and data teams productive. Built on an open-source foundation with more than 15,000 members and hundreds of contributors, DataHub Cloud connects to 100+ data sources to ingest, structure, and serve trusted context about your data estate, so AI agents and analysts always have the right information to work from
Why Slack + DataHub?
Data questions don’t start in a catalog, they start in Slack. Someone asks what “active customer” means. Someone else isn’t sure which revenue table finance uses. Another person wants to know when a key dataset last refreshed. These questions get answered slowly, inconsistently, or not at all, because the people who know are buried in other tools.
With Slack + DataHub, your team can get authoritative answers about your data without leaving the conversation. Every response is grounded in context that domain experts have already reviewed and approved. The answer your analysts get in Slack is the same trusted answer they’d get by opening DataHub directly.
Ways to use the Slack + DataHub integration
With the Slack + DataHub integration, you can:
- Ask @DataHub a question in plain English and get answers grounded in your verified AI data catalog
- Search for any data asset using the /datahub slash command and preview details without leaving Slack
- Subscribe to datasets and receive notifications when ownership, schema, or documentation changes
- Get alerted when a data incident is raised, with impact context and priority level included
- Resolve or reopen incidents directly from a Slack message Surface an asset’s owners, glossary terms, lineage, and usage — all in thread
Note: DataHub AI responses are generated by a large language model and grounded in your catalog metadata. As with any AI system, outputs should be verified for critical decisions. DataHub does not use Slack data to train AI models.

Search across your data without leaving Slack
Use the /datahub slash command to search for any table, dashboard, glossary term, or pipeline. Results appear directly in Slack, and you can expand any result to see full asset details (owner, description, schema, lineage, and tags) without opening a browser.
The Subscribe button on any search result lets teammates sign up for notifications on that asset in seconds, directly from the result.

Stay informed when data changes
Subscribe to the tables, dashboards, and pipelines your work depends on. DataHub sends a Slack notification the moment something changes before a bad number makes it into a report or a decision.
Notifications include what changed, who made the change, and a direct link to the asset in DataHub. Channel notifications can be configured by a DataHub admin to route the right alerts to the right teams.

Manage data incidents without switching tools
When something breaks upstream, the people affected need to know immediately. DataHub sends incident alerts to Slack with everything required to triage the issue: which asset is affected, the severity level, downstream impact, and who owns it. Team members can resolve or reopen incidents directly from the message without opening DataHub.
